Neptune Township is home to the Ocean Grove Tent Community, a quaint community that dates back to the days of the campmeeting movement. In 1869, Rev. William Osburn sought to lease 300 acres of land between Goose Pond and Long Pond for a Methodist campmeeting. He wanted a site thick with trees and high sand dunes.
